Quick Fill — Privacy Policy
What Quick Fill does
Quick Fill fills web forms with generated test data when you ask it to, by clicking its toolbar icon or using its keyboard shortcut. The values it enters (names, addresses, dates, ID-style numbers and so on) are made up on your device each time. They are not taken from you or from any real person, and are deliberately formatted so they cannot be mistaken for real identifiers.
Information we collect
None. Quick Fill has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It makes no network requests of its own. The developer cannot see the pages you visit, the forms you fill or the settings you choose.
Information stored on your device
Quick Fill saves your preferences using the browser's chrome.storage.local. This storage stays on your device and is not synced or sent anywhere. It contains only:
- Region override (or "detect from the page")
- Dropdown strategy
- Optional seed text you type in Settings
- On/off switches: fill all fields, overwrite existing values, validate after filling, show result panel, highlight filled fields
You can clear this at any time by removing the extension or clearing its data in your browser.
Page content
When you trigger a fill, Quick Fill reads the form controls on the active page (labels, field types, current values and validation messages) so it can choose suitable values and write them in. This happens locally in your browser. Page content is not stored, logged to any server or transmitted. The run report is written only to your browser's developer console, and optionally to an on-page panel, both of which stay on your device.
Permissions, and why they are needed
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
activeTab | Lets Quick Fill act on the current tab only after you click the icon or press the shortcut. It gets no access to other tabs. |
scripting | Injects the fill logic into that tab so it can read and fill the form. |
storage | Saves your settings on your device. |
Quick Fill never submits a form for you.
Third parties
Quick Fill does not share data with, or send data to, any third party. It contains no third-party code, remote scripts or analytics libraries.
Children's privacy
Quick Fill does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
